Usually, I eschew most of the low hanging fruit of "innocent phrase in old comics books that, out of context, will cause modern reader to giggle because it sounds naughty." for my posts. I mean, it's just too easy.
Then again, there are some that even I can't ignore:
Really, he said that.
But of course, I can't just leave it at that. There's a context that makes it all innocent and good fun, right?
Well, Tex Mason, a.k.a. The Phantom Rider, rescues a youngster from pursuing authorities:
See, the kid's dad was framed by murder, and the law is going to put the youngster in reform school!!
Well, not if Tex Mason has anything to say about it!
He stashes the boy at his ranch...
We never see the kid again in the story...
But Tex was so riveted by the boys plight, he mades one fundamental mistake:
D'oh!! Some hero!
Well, Tex rescues papa from a lynch mob...but it's still all about the boy!
Well, several pages of typical Western comics hi-jinks follow, and tex clears Billy's father's name, and kills the bad guys.
Which brings us back to...
Ummm....OK, Tex.
