Let's play Monty Hall today, shall we?
Suppose you're just reading Plop #23 (1976). And within that gem of an issue you come upon this offer:
First issue sets, mint condition, just 4 bucks apiece!!
Now, I don't know "NCG Merchandise" of New Jersey from a hole in the wall. But for the purposes of our thought experiment, let's assume they are reputable, that we can take "mint" as reasonably accurate, and this isn't some fly-by-night rip-off.
So, with 5 sets of #1 issues to choose from, AND if you could choose just one set, which do you choose?
(And you can choose for whatever reason you want--current collectors' value, historical significance, creators or characters you're fond of, just because you've never read them before--whatever!)
Set E, with Shadow #1 (Kaluta art & cover!), Demon #1, Super Team Family #1, and Stalker #1. (Note: this bundle has only 4 comics, not 5 like the rest. Also, the ad mentions that only 400 of this particular set are available, while there is apparently no limit on the others!)
Or...
Shazam #1, Justice Inc #1, Strange Sports #1, Black Magic #1, and Claw #1!
Or...
Sandman #1 (that's the Kirby Sandman), Shazam #3, Plop #1, Joker #1 and Champion Sports #1!
Or...
Shazam #2, Weird Worlds #1, Beowulf #1, Green Team Special #1 (they mean 1st Issue Special #2), and OMAC #1!!
Or, finally...
Tarzan Digest #1 (they mean this, I presume), Tor #1, Atlas #1 (they mean 1st Issue Special #1), Batman Family #1 and Prez #1!!!
Well, what's your choice? YOU CAN ONLY CHOOSE ONE!!
Leave your comments, explain your reasoning, prepare for the scorn of your comrades!!

Kirby Demon, Kaluta Shadow, Ditko Stalker, and Super Team Family!!
Deal to good to be true.
Arrgh, I love the Demon, Claw, Weird Worlds, OMAC and Plop! But I'd probably have to go with the last one for the Batman Family--no, that one has Prez. Set E, then. Could do with Stalker #1...
They had to split Shazam among three sets, didn't they?
The One with the Demon and Stalker. Ditko and Kirby in one package, hard to beat.
I'd have to go with set E. Kaluta and Kirby and Ditko, oh my!
But the thing is, I owned virtually every one of those comics.
Seriously, you guys aren't tempted by the allure of Strange Sports? C'mon...
