Sometimes, maybe, DC got a little silly with Flash's powers back in the day.
Before Geoff Johns elevated Black Hand to iconic villain status (what?), he was just a dufus who went around with plans like this:
Yup...no "super-speed aura" to protect him from the consequences of running so fast. So...
Well, goodbye, Barry. it's been nice knowing you...
Wait, what? His ring? oh, dear...
Wait, wait, wait!!! So Barry can shrink himself to be super-small?!?
So why do we even need the Atom? And now that we also know that Green Arrow can do anything that Aquaman can, maybe we're headed for a massive downsizing of the Justice League...
With his ability to "individually control all of his molecules," can he make himself bigger, too? Is he going to be a super-fast Hank Pym?!?
Of course, there is one troublesome aftereffect of Flash's ordeal: no clothes!!
Oh, Barry...

What the Hell?
Silver Age Flash is ridiculously powerful - not because of his speed, but because he can perform any feat imaginable so long as he accompanies it with some doubletalk about vibrations.
