The Justice Sociey--Just A Hobby, Apparently

Things were often busy on Earth-2.

Very, very busy.

So busy, in fact, that answering distress calls from fellow Justice Society members? Waaay down on the priority list.

The Star-Spangled Kid has been captured--Huntress and Wildcat escape, but they don't stand a chance against that kind of power. So...

But, surprise, surprise, the calvary doesn't come!

Good question...

OK, probably a good excuse, Kara...

Away from their Hawk-Wings? Shouldn't they carry the alert signal, oh, I don't know, in a pocket? A wallet? A watch? Somewhere they can actually hear it?

You're excused, this time, Charles...

Oh, come on, Clark---flying saucers are an everyday occurrence in Metropolis!! This is an emergency!!

OK, how about some of the true old guard?

Empty closets? Where are Jay and Alan?

Dudes--CARRY. YOUR. EMERGENCY. SIGNALS. ON. YOUR. PERSON.

One last try...

Man, Dr. Fate just straight out ignored you.

The moral: if you get into trouble on Earth-2, you're on your own...

From All-Star Comics #71 (1978)

Sheesh! And I've always laughed at Hal for not wearing his ring while flying a plane, and keeping his lantern in his locker at Ferris.

But the JSA is pretty darned...casual about it all.
