As we discussed yesterday, in late 1941, Doctor Fate experienced a slight...shift...in his portrayal, becoming less of a Dr. Strange-style magic man and more of your standard punch-em-up-whilst-quipping superhero.
That, it turns out, is understating matters, as Fate became a flipping Dirty Harry!! Which makes him, of course, perfect fodder for this week's Friday Night Fights!!
Fate has been hunting down "super-criminal" Mr. Who. Who? The guy who has invented Solution Z, which, by the rules of Golden Age Science, can do practically anything. It makes him younger; it gives him "the strength of ten gorillas;" it allows him to grow into a giant; he can turn invisible; etcetera, etcetera.
But I'd like to stress that, despite these vast powers, Mr. Who is a relatively tame guy. All of his crimes are just thefts--paintings and jewels, so he can "surround himself with beautiful objects." He's no killer.
But that doesn't make Doctor Fate any less savage is putting him down!
WHOA!! Fate just straight up killed the guy!!
Or did he?!?
Spacebooger likes to think that Mr. Who survived and came back as this guy. [SPOILER ALERT: He didn't!]
Doctor Fate asks punks if they feel lucky in More Fun Comics #73 (1941), as Gardner Fox and Howard Sherman teach us there's nothing more fun than executing thieves with no trial.
Now is the time for you to go and vote for my fight. Why mine? Look, after that, do YOU want to make Fate angry? I thought not. So go and vote now!!

Did he end up getting his doctorate, by chance?
