You know, not every Friday Night Fight has to feature a superhero.
There's a riot going on in Gotham Penitentiary, the prisoners have taken 50 guards hostage, and they refuse to negotiate with anyone besides Commissioner James Gordon.
So Gordon selflessly goes in, but he finds out that it's going to be a very one-sided negotiation:
Yup, it's a set-up, as a crook staged the riot and used in to sneak INTO the prison, so he can get revenge on the Commissioner, whom he blames for the death of his brother.
Still, you don't rise to the rank of The Only Honest Police Commissioner In Gotham History (excepting, of course, the time he murdered an unarmed alien and covered up the crime) without being able to hold your own with a couple of trumped up thugs. And thusly:
Hells, yeah!!
Spacebooger once staged a prison riot, but it was only a ruse to get some ice cream...
Paul Kupperberg, Irv Novick and Steve Mitchell show that James Gordan don't need no stinkin' Batman in Detective Comics #489 (1980).
By the way, this was only my second coolest Commissioner Gordon post of the week. The first?
Now, you gotta go vote. Really. Get off your hinder, click on over to Spacebooger's crib, and show the world that you are savvy enough to pick the best fight presented out of several choices (hint: it's mine!)

Wow! I had no idea that Gordon was so awesome when it comes to pummeling! In fact, what the heck does he even NEED Batman for!
