Everything Wrong With Bendis' Avengers In One Panel

Well, maybe not everything...but than panel says an awful lot...

From this week's Avengers #23.

I guess Bendis is going for an attempt at Downey jr's sarcasm here? But amusing verbal interplay is one of comic's weak points, and never works without the aid of an artist who can really draw humour (Maguire for instance). And of course, Bendis is not exactly a great writer in the first place.

On the plus side, hasn't it been announced that Mark Waid will be taking over from Bendis? Now that is good news.

It is good news as long as waid isn't leaving daredevil, which is the best book on the market right now, IMO of course.

One panel? surely you fucking jest; its been the last NINE YEARS thats proved everything wrong with Bendis and his Avengers. He writes as if hes writing for a sitcom. In the Eighties.

Ahh...Bendis and his interchangeable dialogue. Now I would have pegged that speech for Spider-Man, not Iron Man. But with Bendis, anyone of them could have said it...even Wolverine!

Nicholas--as far as I'm aware, no successor to Waid has been named. Waid would be welcome, though.

Karl--I meant that the panel in question served as an example, not that the panel was his only transgression.

Sally--But he would have had Wolverine say "Bub," or inserted some fake curse words if it were Cage. So see, he doesn't really write everyone the same. Sigh...
