For Your Consideration: Ken Steacy

Yesterday my Friday Night Fight was from Marvel Fanfare #22 (1985), which was penciled, inked, colored and lettered by Ken Steacy.

That issue (and following one, which finished the Iron Man/Doc Ock story) featured numerous pin-ups by Steacy of Marvel characters. Please enjoy a few:

By all accounts Steacy is a swell guy, and has had a nice career.

But forgive me for being a bit selfish--I wish he had drawn a lot more Marvel Comics than he did...

I agree. Have to confess I didn't recognise his art at all, which is a shame.

A few years ago, I was lucky enough to get Ken Steacy to draw Iron Man in my "musical sketchbook" (a themed sketchbook combining characters with song lyrics/titles that fit them):

I've never seen such stripped-down Steacys, they're rather nice. The Hulk is my favourite, while Storm is a tad disturbing.

Thanks for that. Steacy never got enough love from the comic book fans. His style was just too much his own, it seems. Always beautiful work, and nice to see several together here.
