Manic Monday--Trends That Weren't

This is from before I was born, so maybe this was all true. But I'm willing to bet 50,000 quatloos that Young Romance #124 (1963) was full of blarney in portraying what made for the "big wheel on campus":

I wasn't there, but I'm pretty sure that the guy who got stuck with "granddad's hot rod" "adorned with gay slogans" was never considered the "lucky driver." (Then again, The Beverly Hillbillies was #1 on TV that year, so I guess anything is possible)

Ditto for the "hip" slang:

I mean, c'mon, didn't these guys see Animal House?



Now, there were some 1960s trends to believe in!!
