The Stupidest Plan In Comic Book History

It's World's Finest #241 (1976), and it's space exploration, Bob Haney style! Earth's first deep space mission--with Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne part of the crew for no reason that makes sense--is nine days into their 90-day mission, when they get some bad news:

So, Bruce Wayne has a master plan to settle everyone down. What could it be? Come on, try and guess...

No, wrong. No matter how insane your guess was, Haney's solution was insanerer.

So how does Bruce decide to keep the crew from outright panic after Earth's destruction?

Wait, seriously?!?

You really thought the best way to shake the crew out of their despair and to prevent panic...was to fake your own suicides?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!

I mean, WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!
