Judging by the comments of some recent brides I know, a surprising number are Brides Who Have Decided He'll Do... Not really in love, just checking an item off the life list.
Perhaps the comic was on sale in places with arranged marriages like India and parts of Utah?

Nancy--that seems an awful expensive and time-consuming item to have on a life list if you're merely "settling." You meet any more, tell them to give me the money, and I'll find something far more productive to do with it.
