This little bit appeared at the bottom of one or two pages in most of the Archie comics books published in the 1970s:
Undoubtedly a true statement. And just as undoubtedly, only Marvel comic books carried the Marvel insignia, and only DC books carried the DC trademark.
Still, it's an odd thing to put out as a little micro-advertisement. Were there dozens of Archie clones out there, sapping away sales? Were readers having problems recognizing Archie books on the stands?

Could it be the word "series," that is important here? Informing a young kid that Josie and/or Sabrina were part of the Riverdale universe? I couldn't tell you if they ever interacted, but as a kid I do recall the uniformity of the covers.
I'm pretty sure Archie immitators were popular from time to time. You've put mentioned several yourself.
Important for Archie to keep the Bingos and the Scooters separated.
