Given the end of Goblin Nation this weekend, I thought it would be fitting to use this week's Friday Night Fights to remind ourselves what happened immediately after one of the previous times Spider-Man put an end Norman Osborn's hijinks.
Most people, you see, don't remember what happened immediately after Gwen Stacy's death.
Yeah, yeah, there was Harry working himself up to be Goblin 2.
Yeah, yeah, the Jackal started showing up, there was a Man-Wolf story, Kangaroo came back, there was that Doc Ock/Hammerhead story.
But evryone forgets that the very issue after the Goblin "died..."
...JJJ decided that Spider-Man was guilty of Osborn's murder and hired recently debuted Luke Cage to kill the wallcrawler!
Yes, that happened. Here, let me remind you...
Dug!
SPOILER ALERT: Later in the issue they fight again, have a calm and rational discussion of their differences, bury the hatchet...and as a result?
Spacebooger wonders how often Luke and Peter reminisce about this first meeting at Avengers gatherings...
Old school SMASH and CRUNCH and KRAK are brought to us by Gerry Conway, Gil Kane and John Romita (artists) and J. Romita and T. Mortellaro (inkers) in Amazing Spider-Man #123 (1973)
Now is the time for you to go and vote for my fight. Why? Hey, I was sick last week--you don't want me to relapse, do you? DO YOU? So go vote!!!
