Not to pick on Geoff Johns here, because it seems like EVERY sci-fi writer/series makes this boneheaded move at some point. But from Blackest Night #3 (series subtitle: Killing 5 More Months Until Hal Jordan Puts On All 7 Rings):
Yup, we've discarded EVERYTHING associated with individualism. Except, of course, designating one individual to be a leader. And that person "CHOSEN" to be leader, which, unless it was by random draw, implies individual attributes upon which such a choice is based.
I'm just saying, when the concept you're trying push can't even survive the first expository word balloon, why even try to use it?
