Who's The Boss?

You know, every time I hear the name of the new Batman series:

I can't help but be reminded of this song:

So, DC, how much money do you think it would take to get The Boss to re-record a new version of the song, but replacing "murder" with "Batman"?!? I mean, c'mon now:

Bobby's got a gun that he keeps beneath his pillow
Out on the streets your chances are zero
Take a look around you (come on now)
It ain't too complicated
You're messin' with Batman Incorporated
Now you check over your shoulder everywhere that you go
Walkin down the streets, there's eyes in every shadow
You better take a look around you (come on now)
That equipment you got's so outdated
You can't compete with Batman Incorporated
Everywhere you look now there's Batman Incorporated

Man, that just flat out works (and rocks!!)

Plus, you could include it as a CD single, poly-bagged with each copy of issue #1!! Instant collectors' item, as Springsteen fans storm the comics shoppes to get this rarity!!

Yes, I know Bruce is with Columbia Records, dire enemy of Warner Music. But that's why you gotta spend the cheddar, Warner/DC. Plus, you could sell it to Columbia as cross-promotion, as making a lot of new Bruce fans the very week he's releasing a new box set.

Besides, Bruce is The Boss--you convince him, they'll probably let him do it. Just promise him free Batman comics for life, and I'll bet he'll go for it!

Somebody make this happen, please.

Really, snell? A CD insert...in 2010? Why not vinyl or cassette tape or 8-track? Way to show your age, dude. A code or link for a free download seems more likely, in this day and age...

And really? Are you seriously dogging out the "Instant Collector's Item" angle of such a freebie-bonus giveaway? Aren't you one of the most ardent critics of the whole "speculative, die-cast, poly-chromatic, #1 First Issue Spectacular Extravaganza, Guaranteed To Be A Collector's Item, etc, etc" comics collector/investor mindset as being a big detriment to the industry as a whole? Or was that all just sardonics?

And while I'd like to think that Bruce "The Boss" has some affinity for the homegrown Americana roots of his namesake Bruce "The Bat", I also think he's got a bit too much artistic integrity to actually be swayed by any sort of suggestion for such a project as this (and wouldn't Bruce Wayne be on the *other* side of that thin little socio-economic line which separates a lot of American sub-cultures? I dunno, it just seems like Bruce Springsteen would be more "Clark Kent and Kansas by way of Live Aid/Farm Aid/'Nebraska'/heartland rock", etc. to me, to be honest).

You never know, though...Prince (as in the Artist Known As), the uncrowned Flayer Of All Things Corporate, *did* do the #1 hit 'Batdance' after all.
