From the December solicit for Final Crisis: Secret Files #1, written by Grant Morrison and Peter Tomasi:
Finally, the secrets of this year’s most talked about event can be revealed! Witness how Darkseid's death shattered the Multiverse, creating continuity ripples throughout the DC Universe!Because, of course, you wouldn't want to put stuff like that into the actual story, would you...?

Beats Superboy-Prime punching dimensional walls, I guess. Does DC's marketing department even bother watching out for spoilers anymore?
Well, Morrison himself said exactly the same thing in a Newsarama interview last week: "The Multiversal structure of parallel worlds is collapsing. Darkseid’s fall has broken the Multiverse basically and he’s pulling everything that exists down with him into Hell, the swine!"
Which still doesn't answer the question, shouldn't you put something like that into the actual Final Crisis series, rather than a spin-off money-suck Secret Files? Shouldn't the story you're trying to tell...be told in your story??
I'm in complete agreement about this rather bizarre strategy to reveal plot points. Heaven forbid telling the actual story in the main series. Marv Wolfman and George Perez would be spinning in their graves seeing the travesty his magnificent series has spawned.
Oh wait. Wolfman and Perez aren't dead. But if they were, they'd be spinning I tell you!
