And then there was the time that the Dominators gave Snapper Carr super powers (he could teleport, but only when he snapped his fingers!), and he formed a pretty lame super team, and they gave him his own book:

Retro late 80s-early 90s may yet make that a reality. Don't tempt fate.
I remember reading an old "But I Digress..." column where Peter David mentions packing the Blasters special with as many sci-fi cliches as possible and really aiming for the groan factor.
Without looking back at it, I'm ready to admit he succeeded.
