As a public service, allow me to present, from the back of Fury Of S.H.I.E.L.D. #3 & #4 (1995), a checklist of every appearance of Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. up to that point (click to embiggen):

Be Careful Of What You Wish For
To those who have complaints about Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., please remember to be careful of what you wish for. Because you could have gotten this:
*shudder*
Oh, 1990s, you have so much to answer for..
I mean, even the corner character highlight box is a crime against art:
"But there aren't enough super-heroes," they whine.
Look, S.H.I.E.L.D. has never been about super-heroes. The whole idea behind S.H.I.E.L.D. was, to quote Stan, "to out-U.N.C.L.E. U.N.C.L.E."
But hey, you want super-heroes? Again, be careful of what you wish for:
I think I'll dress up as the 1990s for Halloween--that'll be the scariest thing I can imagine...

Manic Monday--The First Cover Appearance Of Nick Fury EVER!!
No sense waiting for it--here's the first cover appearance of Fury ever:
Oh, wait...we seem to have a SNAFU here.
That's not Nick Fury, that's Fury the horse, the eponymous lead of the 1955-1960 NBC show.
And no, I don't know who "Ricky" is.
Anyway, Fury is a horse, Joey is his boy, they have adventures.
I can say that Fury got the best of the dialogue, and the best of the action scenes:
Let's see Nick Fury do any of that!!
From Fury #1 (1962)
