Don't worry, Manhunter and Thor caught the dude--it was the defense attorney who always lost to the prosecutor, and he was tired of losing (and losing clients), so...straight up murder is the best answer!!
Remember this next time you vote for District Attorney--you're putting the poor guy in harm's way (if he's any good, that is...after all, Perry Mason never had to kill Hamilton Burger...).
