Questions That Others Dare Not Ask--Savage?

Once again, Slay Monstrobot ask the questions that no one cares about dares to ask:

Now that we have a universe where The Man Of Bronze gets to cavort around with some DC characters, shouldn't we consider the possibility that Doc Savage just might be related to this guy?

That would explain an awful lot, if you think about it...

  1. First wave?

Great. Now I can't stop thinking about Nextwave, and being depressed by the injustice of the world.

  2. I don't think I've ever seen DC promote an event as aggressively (and obnoxiously) as "First Wave". Is it DC's answer to Marvel's "The Marvels Project", or are they just trying to find something for Brian Azzarello and Rags Morales to do? Cuz really....is a pulp property like Doc Savage and a washed-up character like the Spirit really the thing people are going to flock to the comic shop to buy? I don't think so...not even with Batman's inclusion.

  3. Oh, I don't know, Mark. You keep trying and experimenting with these properties, and sometimes great stuff results. Darwyn Cooke's run on the Spirit was great...Andy Helfer and Kyle Baker's Shadow back in the 80s was one of the great overlooked series. I'm not saying First Wave or its attendant spin-off series will necessarily be that good, but you never know.

  4. Cooke's Spirit was a bad joke that only showed that, while he could draw well, he had no grasp of the lead character or the supporting cast.
