I know that many of you have been asking, "Gee, Mr. Monstrobot, exactly HOW thin can Mr. Fantastic stretch?"
OK, maybe just a few of you have been asking that...
Anyway, they answer can be seen in Fantastic Four #200 (1978).
Let's start with our frolicsome foursome trapped in Doom's dungeon, and no way out because the door is hyper-electro-vaporizified or some such. But that can't stop Reed Richards!!
OK, but that's thin.
But wait, there's more. Later, as Reed in caught in another of Doom's deathtraps, we get another demonstration one Reed getting thin.
As Reed is forced to hang onto the walls to prevent plunging into a fiery furnace, Doom adds to the shocking scenario by pumping poisonous chlorine gas into the chamber:
Take that, Elongated Man!!
Well...ok, that's actually pretty impressive.
ReplyDeleteBut can he wriggle his nose?
I think NOT!
That tank would have been made to withstand the high pressure of the compressed gas.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it have been much easier to bust the pipe that only has to withstand much lower pressure?
He used Science, Jon.
ReplyDeleteIt's very complicated.
Man, Reed is a badass sometimes.
Reed Richards was fucking badass back in his day; too bad these days writers portray him as a doddery old meddler, who lets himself get pushed about by his bratty daughter and his dad who he hasnt seen for years.
ReplyDeleteCome on, Reed, give it some fucking welly! Show 'em you mean business!
Yeah, how great to be reminded that Reed has actual powers. I miss Mr Fantastic
ReplyDeleteSimonson run was the best.
ReplyDeleteReed kicked all the ass. Remember the fight with the dinosaurs?
