Well, The Acrobatic Flea pipped me to the post with the explanations so I'm off to the pub for a few bevvies, followed by a ruby with half and half and a keema.
Again, I think this is in English...but it could just be another example of the British pulling our legs.

Cornell actually had explanations for all of that at the end of the issue -- I almost skipped it 'cause it looked too much like an advertisement...
