Say Cheese!!

A couple of weeks ago we were discussing how Gary Frank simply cannot draw the human face smiling. I generally like his artwork, but it can be downright painful to watch him draw someone not in pain.

Well, it turns out that it's not just that he's required to draw Superman with Christopher Reeve's head that causes this quirk in his art. Let's travel back to Avengers #61, because even in 2003, Frank's smiles were deadly.

Because when the Vision says something nice to the Scarlet Witch...

...you had better brace yourself.

Good lord, that rictus of agony is supposed to depict happiness?!?

Why hasn't Gary Frank ever drawn a Batman/Joker story? His Joker venom victims would be the best ever...
