Friday Night Fights--A league of His Own Style!!

One of the problems with having Superman in the Justice League is that he kind of unbalances things. He's so powerful, it's hard to come up with a menace he couldn't take out more quickly on his own.

The most graphic demonstration of this comes in this week's Friday Night Fights, as the Key has the JLA trapped in their HQ.

Why?

Haha--the laugh's on you, Key. Batman already has foolproof ways to kill all of the Leaguers!!

Still, none of the heroes can escape the inevitable...until Kal-El gets crazy:

OK, there is absolutely no possible way that made the tiniest lick of sense.

Still, past-Superman isn't under Key's mental hygiene, so he's ready to save the day!

"Resist"?!?!? Please Hawkman...

Kal-El isn't done taking out the trash yet!

And...

Superman roughed them up with less sweat than he'd need against a class of unruly kindergartners--and they thank him for it!

Please, make us useless some more!!

Spacebooger thinks that this would have been a better plot for the Justice League movie...

Who needs a team in Justice League Of America #63 (1968), by Gardner Fox, Mike Sekowsky, and George Roussos

Now is the time for you to go and vote for my fight. Why? You don't want to see how fast Superman can take all of you out, do you? Than go vote!!

  1. Yeah, I always theorised that Supes only joined the JLA so he'd have people to get rid of all those annoying chunks of Kryptonite...

  2. This kind of story (and more on Super Friends), is why so many people of a generation disliked Superman. We've learned in popular culture to dislike the popular, flawless jock, Superman as depicted here is the epitome of that. I can remember as a kid watching Super Friends imagining that Green Lantern, at least, could best Supes.

  3. Heck, Hal doesn't even have any dialogue!
