Who knew that Josie was so into country music?!?
Of course, Alex learns the wrong lesson. And so later that day...
[Editor's note--as near as I can tell, those are not Johnny Cash lyrics...or anybody's lyrics, for that matter. Carry on.]
So, has Alex finally learned his lesson? What do you think?
The next day, he invites Josie over so he can apologize...
Wait for it...
Oh, Alex...
Still, if you want to get romantic with Josie, you guys know what to do, now--practice your country crooning!!
From Josie And The Pussycats #81 (1975)
Well, that prison song sounds like a parody of Folsom Prison Blues. IMHO, it's close enough to the kind of song that Johnny Cash would do.
ReplyDeleteDavid Allan Coe performed a song, "You Never Even Called Me By My Name," written by Steve Goodman. He said that he told Goodman it wasn't really a country song, because it didn't have any lines about "mama," getting drunk, trains, or prison. So Goodman added a new verse at the end:
I was drunk the day my mama got out of prison
I went to pick her up in the rain
But before I got to the station in my pick up truck
She got run over by a damned old train.
"Without your loving arms around my ol' *Red*-neck..." 😝
