Miss Grundy And The Bechdel Test!

Y'all may not know this, but one of the first proponents of the Bechdel Test was Riverdale teacher Miss Grundy--long before the "test" was ever "invented."

Sadly, her stand was no match for Betty and Veronica!

The Bechdel Test--it cannot win against teenage hormones!!

  1. Y'know, I'm sure that story would fail all tests for sexism etc these days....but it did make me laugh out loud.

  2. The Bechdel test - doomed to automatically fail because in order to pass the absence of reference to men, you have to acknowledge the absence of reference to... men. Men are still at the heart of it! The only way for the Bechdel test to pass is if there's no Bechdel test...

Was that deep and thinky, or just nonsense? Anyway, I've read precisely 0 Archie books in my time, but this sequence gave me a chuckle. (I'd guess Miss Grundy's task of emptying their heads of all thoughts wasn't exactly arduous.)
