Here at Slay Monstrobot, we've already dealt with the conundrum of "how can mere glasses actually disguise Superman?" (Seriously, go read that one...)
But in the Marvel Universe, you don't need any gimmicky "subconscious super-hypnosis" or "mysterious properties of Kryptonian plexiglass." Nope, in good old 616, wearing plain old fake glasses is good enough (as long as you're an expert S.H.I.E.L.D. agent).
Captain America and T'Challa are trying to stop Zemo's plan to take over the world. But it turns out they're not alone in that goal...
"Irma Kruhl." Oh, Stan...
Anyway, yup, that's Sharon Carter, a.k.a. Agent 13, undercover. But despite the fact that they've met many times, and that Cap has the hots for her, Steve just doesn't recognize her behind a fake pair of spectacles...
Let's take a break for some Monday morning Kirby destruction!
Woo hoo!!
Anyway, in the ensuing fight...
See? A perfectly cromulent disguise!!
So, if you don't believe that a simple pair of glasses (and a beret) could disguise someone, well, Captain America and Stan Lee and Jack Kirby beg to differ. Your argument is invalid!!

Stan Lee - had one scripting tic - that's always driven me round the bend.
ReplyDeleteYou might have noticed - none of his characters - can speak a sentence in one piece.
They're always pausing - at the most ridiculous - of places.
There's Agent 13 doing it right there - in that last panel - and brother, is it ever annoying.
what are "THTA" glasses?
