The Most Disappointing Cover Of All Time!!

Man, how could any sentient being not be thrilled by the possibilities promised by this cover?

Sadly, a villain composed of anthropomorphic dice was nowhere to be found inside of Mary Marvel #21 (1948).

Instead, we get this guy:

Dicehead runs a shady offshore gambling operation. Oh, and he promises crooks shelter at his casino yacht, and then he kills them, takes their loot for himself, and fires their corpses off his ship via torpedo tubes. So, he's kind of a jerk.

Oh, and he has the decor sense of a Batman '66 villain:

And that's all there is to Dicehead.

Sigh.

On the bright side, it could have been Mary Marvel versus this guy:

Shudder...

  1. I guess when you're born with your head shaped like a die you get a lot of pressures to play with dice and eventually you just break down and embrace it.
