Look, this post is nothing but silly, so don't expect any high comedy.
It's just that I discovered a comic story called:
Oh, yes.
We have sort of a premise...
Nicodemus is his dog.
There's no trace of an interesting story here, really. I'm just vastly amused that the kid's name is Disco.
Oh, and that the police show him an awful lot of deference...
"Go with Disco" would be the mantra of my church, if I had one...
Still, however much I may mock Disco The Boy Detective, the cops are enthralled with his skills:
Disco Theory Explained would be a required course at my college, if I had one...
And remember...
...Disco will never lie to you!!!
And our murderer of the month gets caught:
Good advice for actors as well as criminals...
And cops love Disco!
Seriously, they love him!
Wait--can I call the police station tomorrow and get a case to solve?!?!
Next issue:
Sadly, there was no next issue.
(And no, it doesn't say Hyper-Disco. Hyper is the name of the comic book, silly billy)
Ah, Disco The Boy Detective...if only you'd been born 35 years later, you would have owned the world...
From Hyper Mystery Comics #2 (1940)
I'll bet that all the regular detectives who got laid off didn't love him too much.
ReplyDeleteIs it possible the folks at Hyper had seen Tintin? I mean, the "tow-headed boy genius with the short pants and the white dog" thing, it seems derivative but at the same time, as Jules Feiffer said about Billy Batson, familiar to anyone who's ever taken a how-to-draw course...
ReplyDeleteWho wears short shorts?
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm with Prof, I thought Tintin too. We need Disco in the Congo.
