Look, Batman gets all the cheers for his "just one punch" fight with Guy Gardner way back in the "Bwa-ha-ha" days of the Justice League.
Well, I'm here to tell you that he completely ripped that off from Bashful Benjamin Grimm. And what's more, the Thing needed Just. One. Finger.
Which takes us to tonight's Friday Night Fights.
The Watcher caused an wall of flames to envelop the world (to hide it from the Silver Surfer)...but the madding crowd figures it must be the Human Torch's fault. So they use a firehouse to bushwhack him.
But you don't mess with one of the Fantastic Four without attracting more trouble...
PLINKK!!!!!
Spacebooger is now dying to see a Batman vs. Ben Grimm story...
The Thing shows great restraint in Fantastic Four #48 (1966), by Stan, Jack & Joe.
Now is the time for you to go and vote for my fight. Why? Because Ben has three other fingers he could use...and you don't want that. So go vote!!!
I still remember this "fight"--it got a huge guffaw from my friends and me because it was the first time we'd seen such a thing. Such a Thing. Ah, those were the glory days of the FF.
ReplyDeleteThat's sweet of Ben to come to Johnny's aid.
ReplyDeleteI feel like Spidey started using that one finger move a lot during the David Micheline era on Amazing Spider-Man. I always liked it because it was a way to hint at how strong he was, and it made sense for Spidey to hold back against crooks who couldn't take a serious punch.
I have to wonder just when and why Aunt Petunia felt the need to say, "It's clobbering time!"
ReplyDeleteYou tracked mud in the house! It's clobbering time!
You're late for dinner. It's clobbering time!
Flowers for me? Oh, you handsome man. It's clobbering time!
