Manic Monday Bonus--What If Steve Ditko Drew Sandman?

From the standard "Horror comic host's introduction page" in Secrets Of Haunted House #38 (1981):

I can't say for sure that's Steve Ditko--the page is unsigned, and GCD just has a "?" for this particular piece of art. But it sure looks Ditko-esque, at the very least.

And of course, Destiny wasn't a member of the Endless, yet, as Sandman was still barely a gleam in Neil Gaiman's eye in 1981.

Then again, Ditko did plenty of stories featuring Nightmare for Doctor Strange, and that's only a stone's throw from Morpheus. So let your mind relax, and picture Sandman as done by Steve Ditko...admit it, his Corinthian would scare the bejeebers out of you!!
