Back In Amazing Spider-Man #12 (1964), Charles Coryell of Joplin, Missouri had a suggestion for Spider-Man's romantic future:

Ha ha, of course that's not going to happen!!

Let's watch as they casually dismiss this suggestion:

    Oh I don't know. Sue does seem to like jerks...Reed, Namor...Jameson would fit right in!
