Manic Monday--Even Stan Doesn't Know The Answer To This One

You know, there's one thing I've never figured out the answer to. Let's ask Stan Lee:

    The answer is quite simple and obvious, really:
    Neither!
    Both submitted potential acronyms leave out the 'E.' in 'S.H.I.E.L.D.'
    ('Espionage' in the good acronym - go look it up for yourself if you like couldn't-be-arsed-to-remember version)
