Friday Night Fights--Exo-Skeleton Style!!

It's still Repeat-Rehash-Revenge at Friday Night Fights, wherein our harsh taskmaster Spacebooger requires us to re-use on of the characters from the previous bout.

Since it's been two weeks, allow me to refresh your memories: last time I featured Thor versus Doctor Doom inside the Destroyer. And where do we go from there? Well, Doom isn't the only person who's been inside that armor.

Let's head back to Fantastic Four #172 (1976)--the second comic I ever bought for myself! Roy Thomas (plot) and Bill Mantlo (script) guide George Perez and Joe Sinnott in this tale of terror.

A talking golden ape has come to Earth, begging the Fantastic Four for help--Galactus has come to Counter-Earth, and the High Evolutionary is asking for their aid. Of course, they drop what they're doing and travel to the far side of the sun, only to find Galactus' herald...The Destroyer!!

You see, a couple of years earlier, Thor traded the Destroyer to Galactus in exchange for Firelord's freedom. How's that deal working out for you, Thor? Anyway, Galactus used a teensy portion of his own life force to animate the Destroyer. As a result, for the first time ever Galactus had a herald who wasn't a whiny traitorous deal-breaking nogoodnik--because he was, in effect, his own herald.

So, they launch the Thing out into space to beat the crap out of the Destroyer while they figure out what to do about Galactus. And before you ask, this is when Ben was human, and was wearing an exo-skeleton, and according to Reed, there was enough air inside "for a short time" if Ben "keeps its mouth shut."

And at that point Galactus shuts down the Destroyer, arrives personally on the scene. and eats Counter-Earth (not really).

Spacebooger believes that orange, rocky super-powered exo-skeletons are the wave of the future.

Now, I'm not saying that you have to vote for my fight this week. But think about it--Galactus, bro. Do you really want to make him mad?
