From the DC November solicits:
Wow.
Does this cover make any sense as a Superman cover?? Batman, maybe the Shadow...but should Superman be this freakin' creepy?!?
Obviously, DC and JMS and John Cassaday think that "getting in touch with the people" means "hovering over them menacingly." Everybody at DC is just so clueless on Superman these days...
Oh, and North and South Dakota?? You just got totally stepped on, man. Sorry about that.
They can't all be Phantom Stranger covers.
ReplyDeleteKryptonite is the new Garlic.
ReplyDeleteThat's how bad JMS' Superman run is: It's actually DRAGGING DOWN JOHN CASSADAY. And I normally LOVE John Cassaday's work.
ReplyDeleteI think it's Superman doing his James Brown impression.
ReplyDeleteThe scene just before this was Superman falling to his knees, Jimmy rushing out with the cape and draping it over his shoulders. The next is Superman shooting to his feet, throwing off the cape and belting out "Please, Please, Please". And THAT'S how Superman defeated Darkseid.
Well played, Warren.
ReplyDeleteYeah I don't get it, were they shooting for superman prostating himself before america for us to judge him, for superman to still be our "cloak" of protection just lower and closer, or is he looking for his contact lens that popped out after too many manly tears? It sucks, it sucks bad.
ReplyDeleteMan....this JMS run is just a non-stop thrill ride, isn't it? A smug and annoying Superman on the inside of the comic book, a dour and creepy-looking Superman on the cover. Wheeeeeeeeee!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree. This may be the dumbest cover ever. That's what you need next, Snell, a dumbest-cover-ever list. But it will be probably include more than one, thus imperilling the validity of such a concept.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I've already abandoned ship, I read today that this epic is already faltering (due to JMS' ill-health) - http://www.bleedingcool.com/2010/09/17/dc-comics-to-publish-a-superman-grounded-fill-in-issue/
