Friday Night Fights--Quirky English Style!!

This current bout of Friday Night Fights is Minimum Clonage--we can't re-use any fighters during these twelve rounds. So let's check my list so far:

Spider-Man
Judomaster
Marl Kincaid
T.H.E. Cat
Namor
Mr. Kotter
John Carter Of Mars

But you know who I haven't featured in a Friday Night Fights lately?? The Avengers, that's who!!

No, not those Avengers...these Avengers!!

Yeah, yeah, I know, the cover just calls them John Steed and Emma Peel, but that's just for pesky copyright reasons. If you look at the indicia of this Gold Key comic...

...you can see it clearly named by it's proper British name, The Avengers!!

If you have no idea what the hell I'm talking about, well, please observe the following while hanging your head in nerd shame:

Folks, that's the best stuff ever...anyway, on with the fight...

Steed and Mrs. Peel are, as per usual, lolly-gagging about London in post-coital bliss, when they encounter something decidedly odd and quirky:

Now, as the truly enlightened know, any Avengers fight must have Mrs. Peel displaying judo moves on a bad guy:

But this is Steed's show, as, armed only with his trusty umbrella, he takes down a gladiator:

Ahhh, The Avengers (swinging British version) is comfort food for the soul. Even Spacebooger must concede that, when he refers to Diana Rigg as Mrs. Peel, she is always "THE woman." Oh, Mrs. James Bond...

Gold Key's John Steed And Emma Peel #1 (a.k.a. Avengers #1) is from 1968, and is reprinted from British strips with the creators unknown, although they must be swinging, right?? Sadly, this was the only (American) issue...

Now, you simply must vote for this fight as the best this week, or I shall be forced to remind you how ghastly and abysmal the 1998 Avengers movie was. And nobody wants that, do they??
