Bold fashion Choices--How To Build Up A Wardrobe Quickly

Things today are different than they were back then.

An ad from Danger and Adventure #27 (1954):

Hokey smokes, what a great deal! 12 dresses? How much?

That's all? Why would anyone say no to this bonanza?

Oh.

Not that there's anything wrong with used clothing. And back then, girls needed a lot more dresses than they need nowadays.

Still--buying used clothing, sight unseen, via a coupon in a comic book? Little Becky's gonna wear whatever shows up in the mail, no matter what?

Things really were different back then. Not to mention, hawking girls' dresses in "Danger And Adventure" maybe isn't the best audience targeting ever.

Still, at 29¢ per dress...
