Spider-Man 4 Preview--G'Day!!

It's time to begin the ridiculously ill-informed speculation regarding who might be the villain in the forthcoming Spider-Man 4: The Quest For Peace.

Who would make a good villain for the movie, someone suitably familiar to the public AND a credible threat to our Webhead's well-being? One answer is provided by Amazing Spider-Man Annual #13 (1979), in the pin-up gallery of Spider-Man's most famous foes:

Banga goes a kanga...That's right, the Kangaroo!! Let's bring in the Crocodile Dundee crowd along with the usual Spider-Fans!! He would go over soooooo huge!!

What? You've never heard of him? Dude, it says right at the top of the page: "Spider-Man's Most Famous Foes!" Ipso facto, the Kangaroo is famous. Marvel pin-up galleries never lie! The public will eat this up!!

What now? Does he do anything besides leap?? My brothers, he is AS PROPORTIONALLY STRONG AS A KANGAROO!!! What more can you want. Read the caption--read it!! "...one of Spidey's most feared foes!" Most. Feared. What part wasn't clear??

Geez, you guys are a hard to please lot.

SPECIAL BONUS SNARK: From the Wikipedia biography of Brian Hibbs, the second Kangaroo:
Hibbs, although not from Australia, idolized the original Kangaroo, going so far as to spend years studying the exploits of Frank Oliver and begin imitating his speech and style...(later in his career) Hibbs actually believed he was Frank Oliver, the original Kangaroo. As a result, he took on a very thick, almost unintelligible Australian accent.
As opposed to the intelligible Australian accent...

  1. I haven't seen Spider-Man 2 or 3 - but I would certainly line up to buy a ticket for 4 if it features the Kangaroo! I'd buy 2 tickets if it featured both Kangaroos. But then again, I'm easy.

  2. Every fourth movie in any franchise should be entitled the Quest for Peace.

    Villainous skater nephews optional.

  3. If ever there was a super villain who needed those 90s thigh-belt pouches... it's this guy.

Thigh belt pouches. Lots of 'em.
